Joyce prefers the students to call her Grandma, which is a proper name because she treats each young man as if he were her own grandson. God has given Joyce a passion for helping young people. She has been involved in supporting teens for over 30 years, through her church and her work. She and her husband, Steve, moved to their property in Clark Fork, in 2002, shortly after Joyce retired from Point Loma Nazarene University, in San Diego, CA. She is a board member and volunteers weekly at The Filling Station Youth Center in Clark Fork, a non-profit organization, built and maintained for enriching the lives of the Clark Fork Valley teens.
